Ontario Municipal Workers Committee (CUPE OMW)
The CUPE Ontario Municipal Workers Committee (OMW) is a key component of CUPE Ontario. The OMW Committee plays a crucial role in representing municipal workers, including road maintenance crews, water and sewage plant operators, social service providers and more! We are pleased to announce openings for new members to join our committee and contribute to our ongoing efforts.
The committee is currently accepting applications to fill the following four (4) vacancies:
- Area Representative for AREA 1 (Kenora, Rainy River, and Thunder Bay): This role involves coordinating bargaining agendas, facilitating the development of coordinated bargaining, and coordinating information and activities pertinent to our members in these districts.
- Area Representative for AREA 5 (Haliburton, Peterborough, Northumberland, City of Kawartha Lakes, and Region of Durham): The representative will have similar responsibilities as the Area 1 representative, focusing on these specific counties and regions
- Equity Representative: This position is normally elected for a two-year term by voting delegates. Eligible candidates must self-identify as Indigenous, 2SLGBTQI+, Racialized, Woman, Worker with Disabilities, or a Young Worker. The Equity Representative will bring an essential perspective of equity and inclusion to the committee’s work
