SUDBURY, ON – The Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 4705, representing roughly 1500 inside and outside workers, has ratified a tentative agreement that was reached with the City of Greater Sudbury last week.

“We think this new contract represents fairness for our members, and is responsible to the citizens of Sudbury too,” said Darryl Taylor, president of Local 4705. “It took more than 30 days at the table to get here. But we are pleased we were able to achieve an agreement that allows us to continue providing great public services.”

The contract includes a wage increase, and will expire on March 31st, 2019. Both parties have now ratified it.

CUPE Local 4705 represents the bulk of the city’s unionized employees, including paramedics, bus drivers, pool and library workers, roads and parks workers, water and wastewater workers, garbage collectors, Ontario Works staff, clerical and technical staff, and many more.
