Convention Call

In accordance with Article 4 of the Constitution, you are hereby notified that the 57th Annual CUPE Ontario Convention will convene online on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 and will conclude on Friday, May 28, 2021. Registration details to follow. Read the first call here.

"Walk-in" Registration Process

As the CUPE Ontario Convention is quickly approaching, we want to remind you that things are a little different this year! As we are organizing a virtual Convention, we are strongly encouraging all Locals to ensure that they register as early as possible to avoid any glitches. If your Local ends up registering at the time of the Convention, there is no guarantee about the time it will take to finalize the registration process.

To be eligible to register, your Locals’ per capita payments up to March 31, 2021 must be received by CUPE Ontario no later than Friday, May 21, 2021. You must also be paid up to February 2021 with CUPE National.

If you register at the Convention through the Virtual Office, you will be transferred to the CUPE Ontario staff who will be handling the registration process. You will need to be ready with the President or designate’s email address and phone number, as we will send the registration link to them so that they can register you online.

For last-minute registrants, we will only be accepting credit card payments.  The fee for registration is $375.00.

You will then receive a personalized link, where you will finalize the registration process, and select the caucuses that you would like to attend.  This link needs to be filled in order for you to attend the election caucus.

To avoid this process and any unnecessary delays, we are encouraging all delegates to register in advance.

Please feel free to contact us at CUPE Ontario with any questions related to the CUPE Ontario Convention Registration.

Elections

As a result of the decision by the National President to extend all terms of office by one year due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, all positions on the Executive Board will be up for election at the Convention for a one year term.  There will also be an election for a three year trustee. Elections will be held again at the 2022 Convention in order to bring the organization back in line with the Constitution.

Any member who has declared for election to any position, and makes it known in writing to the Secretary-Treasurer no later than March 12, 2021, shall be given the opportunity to provide up to a one hundred and fifty words statement as an election profile that shall be printed and distributed through regular mail and posted online.  CUPE Ontario will not be responsible for translating individual candidates’ election material. [Article 6(b) of the CUPE Ontario Constitution].  Please send materials to Candace Rennick via Kareena Kawall at [email protected].

Wherever possible, our services are provided to persons with disabilities and others in an integrated fashion – unless an alternate measure is necessary in order to enable a person with a disability to obtain, use, or benefit from our services.

Please submit an Access Request Form to our office prior to April 30th so that we can ensure that any accommodations you require are provided.   We have included a copy of an accessibility form in this convention package for your use.  While we do our best to accommodate last minute request, we ask that every effort is made to submit request by the April 30th deadline.
