TORONTO, Ont. – Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Ontario has extended a cordial invitation to residents of Windsor and Essex County to ‘Rock for Public Services’ this Saturday, September 19 at Riverfront Festival Plaza.

“This is a free concert and a chance for Windsorites and people from the county and their families to enjoy a great show on the last weekend of the summer,” said Sid Ryan, CUPE Ontario’s President.

Headlining Saturday’s concert is Juno Award-winning Honeymoon Suite. They will be joined by special guests Spirit.

Formed in the 1980s, Honeymoon Suite remains one of Canada’s truly iconic rock acts, playing to sold-out crowds worldwide. Their platinum-selling discography includes hits such as “New Girl Now,” “Burning in Love,” and “Wave Babies.”

Ryan said that decision to host a free concert in Windsor is an opportunity for CUPE Ontario to demonstrate their commitment to the community, while at the same time encouraging residents to take part in a thoughtful, respectful dialogue about the importance of public services in places like Windsor.

“Through our locals and our members in the area, we are very intimately tied to Windsor. Our members are your neighbours and your friends. We hope everyone—CUPE members, people from other unions, and people who aren’t members of unions—enjoy the opportunity to spend Saturday afternoon and evening in downtown Windsor to enjoy what is going to be a great show with some great music.”
