Woodstock, Ont. – Oxford County Public Health workers, represented by the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), will vote on the employer’s last offer on Monday, March 17. The strike deadline will be extended to 12:01 am on March 19.

“We had a long and difficult mediation day yesterday and while some progress was made, some issues were not resolved to the complete satisfaction of our bargaining committee,” said Heather Grassick, national representative for CUPE 1146. “We feel we won’t make any further progress in bargaining talks without taking the employer’s offer to our membership for a free vote, without a recommendation from the bargaining committee. If they reject this offer, we will be heading to a strike, unless the employer is prepared to improve their final offer.”

CUPE 1146 members provide health inspection, health promotion, and administrative services in Oxford County. The workers’ last contract expired on December 31, 2006.
