Volunteers were greeted by a long lineup when they arrived at St. Andrew’s United Church on Saturday morning.

They were at the Darling Street church for Labour Cares, a community food-sharing event.

“There were people lined up at the doors at 9:30 a.m. and by 11 a.m. the lineup went right around the corner,” Roxanne Bond, of the Brantford and District Labour Council, said.

“I think that tells us there is a need for this kind of project and I’m glad that those of us involved in the labour movement have helped in some way.

“It was great to have so many people here helping out.”

The event began at 11 a.m. People were invited to fill paper bags with food, including fruit and vegetables donated by Elberta Farms, as well food stuffs from the Bun Shoppe Bakery. more…
