Setting an Equity Agenda, and Committee elections

The changing demographics of Canada’s most diverse province continue to have a profound effect on our union’s membership, its strategic directions and programs. Equity is a central part of CUPE Ontario’s 2007 Action Plan.

That’s why CUPE Ontario’s upcoming Human Rights Conference is not just for equity seekers and ‘equity/diversity’ chairs from local unions.

This conference is for all members, including the leaders of locals, to help formulate CUPE Ontario’s Equity Agenda for the next two years.

CUPE Ontario has the most human rights committees of any division across the country. Equally important at this conference will be the election of members to all these committees. Members will be elected to the following committees:

  • Aboriginal Council
  • International Solidarity
  • Pink Triangle (LGBT)
  • Rainbow/Anti-Racism
  • Women’s Committee
  • Workers with Disabilities
  • Young Workers

CUPE members from across the province will gather at Toronto’s Ryerson University Student Campus Centre from November 16-18. Please download the conference call below for the conference agenda, registration form, special needs, and family or dependent care subsidy forms.
