1287.pngCUPE Ontario President Fred Hahn joined striking Lincoln County Humane Society workers, members of CUPE 1287, at a solidarity rally on Saturday, March 3. On a cold, blustery day on the picket lines, Hahn lifted spirits by bringing support from the rest of the CUPE sisters and brothers across Ontario and beyond.

“I am proud of you for standing up for quality services in this community and saying no to a two-tier workplace,” said Hahn. “We support you to stay one day longer and one day stronger than the employer to ensure a fair workplace.”

The current Welland New Democrat MPP, Cindy Forster, and the former Welland MPP, Peter Kormos, also joined the rally to bring solidarity greetings and words of encouragement to defend services and workers.

The humane society workers have been on strike since Friday, February 24. Management demands include lower wages for new hires, with no benefits, creating a two-tier workplace.
