NORTH BAY, Ont. – Area Registered Practical Nurses (RPNs) will be joined by RPNs from Sudbury and New Liskeard in North Bay today (March 8, 2011) at a regional conference focused on quality patient care, RPN skill utilization and sharing best practices.

Increasingly RPNs are vital members of the health care team in both hospital and
long-term care facilities.  There are over 28,800 registered practical nurses (RPNs) working in a variety of health care settings in Ontario.  The Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) represents 37.4 per cent – about 10,000 – of the RPN workforce in Ontario.

The CUPE Northern Ontario Regional RPN Conference is being held at the Royal Canadian Legion, 150 First Ave. West, North Bay and begins at 10 a.m.
